Community

We are excited to offer special community conversations and open mics this year at the virtual Dodge Poetry Festival. The Community Room functions just like a community table or a side stage where open mics can take place.

We have some community guidelines which you should review and we also have monitors who will be present to prevent Zoom-bombing and any behavior that does not align with those guidelines.

Types of Events

Community Conversations
Community Conversations are casual and free-form, happening after many sessions and open to any Festival attendees or poets who would like to join. They will not be recorded or moderated and are meant to be an opportunity for engagement and discussion led by the Festival community.

Drinks and Discussion
Kick back with us in Zoom after a good long day of poetry and get to know other poetry lovers in a casual, fun atmosphere.

Open Mics
Upon entering the Open Mic in our Community Room, please place your name in the chat if you would like to read a poem. Each open mic participant will have the opportunity to read one poem and this poem can be a maximum of 2 minutes long.   If an open mic participant has already read at a 2020 Dodge Poetry Festival open mic, please allow other attendees a turn.

Tributes
We will be paying tribute to Dodge Poets who passed away in 2020: Doc Long and Paul-Victor Winters, who was also a 2020 Festival Poet. All are welcome to gather to read poetry and remember these poets, educators and friends.

Yoga
Yoga teacher Khay Muhammad will lead us in gentle, grounding yoga on Saturday mornings from 9-9:45 a.m. in the Community Room. You can find the link in the schedule.
